Commonly Misunderstood Activities — And Why They’re Not Coaching

Consulting
focuses on assisting and giving advice to help resolve problems

Mentoring
means advising someone by drawing on the experience of a person who has been there before

Teaching
focuses on developing thinking and building capabilities

Training
places emphasis on passing on advice and knowledge

Therapy
involves treating or relieving a disorder. This work must be carried out by a qualified and licensed therapist
